Cora's Turns ONE!

Preface: I apologize for the offensive flash in all these shots. Ugh I hate the flash! but it was a particularly dark room and getting later in the day which didn't help. oh well.

Jennie, Cora's Godmother, made her these fantastic cakes, they were divine!!

 and oh so beautiful! Goodness!

We grilled brats (and all-beef hot dogs for the kiddos), from our local Ted's Polish Sausage shop, along with braised red cabbage and a plethora of Fitz's rootbeer and soda.

Many of Coco's friends came to celebrate with her on her big day. It was cute to see her play with everyone.

OOh, look at that face! I could eat her up!

She didn't demolish her cake like all those one year olds you see in photos. She had a modest serving. Although in this pic, it's looks like she ate the entire thing! ;)

She got a little pooped from all the fun towards the end of her party, so she napped on mama for a wee bit.

Mama and Papa found this little childrens table at a thrift store and painted it a light gray for Coco to sit and "have tea" with her wooden tea set for her birthday.

I forgot to take an "after" shot but you get the idea. ;)

Anyway, it was such a great day of celebration with friends and family. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family to share her life with. Thank you!

Navy Closet

Pardon the mess! This is just to give you an idea of the color before hand. Can we call that a color? hmm... Well we have this great space that we use as a walk-in closet right off our bedroom. Many of these old houses have this tiny little room directly above the front door. It's a strange room with a closet cause at one point, it looks like there was a fireplace given the flue but I don't know.

Anyway, it wasn't really high on the priority list because, I guess there were too many other rooms to deal with. But why leave a highly functional, highly used room for last!? oh well, it's done now. Here it is!

My mother-in-law made me these lovely curtains. They were originally for the main living room but you know me, always switching it up. But they're perfect for this beloved little room now. I think they go so well with the dark navy walls and they let lots of light in (but not too much direct light because that could bleach our clothes over time, yikes.)

Of course, rooms are never really done. There will always be that perfect lamp you find later or that sweet brass frame for the vanity, but it's nice to finally have the walls painted in a cozy color we love. And it goes so well with the lavender master bedroom right next to it!

Thanks for reading and happy painting!

A Copper Kitchen

So THIS is what happens when you and your hoarder friend get together and discuss random fun kitchen project ideas. Not sure exactly how it all went down. All I know is the topic came up, the light bulbs went off, and ta da! The copper kitchen was born.

So she's been hauling this amazing copper polyester film paper I'll call it around for who knows how long and never found a use for it so she gave it to me! We covered the cabinets and drawers with it and ahhh...love love love how it transforms the kitchen. Yes the green is a bit weird now against the copper, maybe I'll paint it later...

We replaced the chrome hardware for fun brass handles. See those grooves on the top and bottom? Perfect fit for those thumbs, so nice to use!

It's a bit janky in spots but that's ok. It's the overall effect we were going for, not perfection.

It will definitely hold me over until we do a complete kitchen re-do one day. Hooray for copper!

PS: this is my everyday view as I work on Etsies. Love her!
