{Snowed in} Decorating

So we got DUMPED 11" yesterday here in st. Louis. The temp was *below* zero and the winds made you want to cry BUT inside where the fire was blazing and the hot coffee was in abundance, we enjoyed it very much (from a distance) Church was actually CANCELLED, crazy huh? So we had our own little family worship service together and then Jonathan went up the attic slash "man cave" to watch football with Cora while I got to finally tackle the ugly upstairs bathroom. YES!

Supposedly, the news broadcaster said St. Louis has not received this much snow for over 31 years. Crazy. For me, it's just a little slice of heaven because it reminds me of {home}. Thank you Lord!

So back to the ugly upstairs bathroom. Yes. SO! I wiped down all the walls and finally painted over that nasty lime green (its an okay color, it was just this awful neon shade that made you feel icky every time you walked in the bathroom) with LAVENDER. This was actually leftover paint from our bedroom. I love it so much I don't mind having TWO rooms painted with it. And it looks fabulous with the already existing navy blue tile and tub.

On a whim, I also painted the door a fire engine high gloss RED. I felt a smidgen of regret painting over an antique door with the ORIGINAL faux graining design from the 20's but I got over it quickly because there is SO MUCH "original" woodwork in this giant house, it really not that big of a deal.

So if I come across a better shower curtain, I'll snag it. This was a thrifting find that I'm not CRAZY about but the colors match and its quaint and cute, for now.

I NEED a little antique or vintage mini console for that area right there (where the towels are) preferably with drawers for storage, ugh. So until I come across the perfect one, this'll do for now.

And once again, I'm not CRAZY about that painting. I'd rather throw some vintage crates or something up there, but all the crates I had were too heavy and I really do like real "art" in a bathroom. It makes it more cozy and not so ...  sterile. Oh and I need to paint the frame. Not digging the brown.

Will also find a better mirror. I can barely see myself in this one its hung so high! but for now. So I guess it's kinda the "for now" bathroom, but its way better than before (wish I had before pictures to show you) you'll just have to take my word for it. Now the downstairs bathroom is an even bigger disaster! thats the next project. pictures to come!

Oh wait, the towel hooks!

I also replaced the ugly chrome froo froo towel bar (yuck!) with these little brass vintage curtain hanger rods. way better.

ok, that's all for now! Happy decorating and stay WARM out there! ;)

Coco's 1st Christmas {2013}

What a lovely FIRST Christmas for Cora we had. She loved all her presents (despite the fact she hardly knew what any of them actually were but it was still cute!) She got play kitchen cookware, records for future listening, and books, and a wooden tea set, and clothes and hats and moccasins, and dolls for her dollhouse and more! from family and little play station and a johnny jumper among other things from the godparents and cocoa puffs too!

We spent the day with good friends (Cora's godparents) for brunch and ended up staying the whole day (cause we love them so) It was fantastic and cozy and a very special time for Coco, and us!

Hope your Christmas was merry and fun! Happy New Year!
