Fogerty drumstick

So my family back home went to see John Fogerty this past weekend and my dad caught the drumstick!! We all thought that was pretty cool. It reminds me of the time I caught Mark Hoppus' pick at a concert, this is bit different and way cooler ;) way to go dad!

PS: That's my little sister Emma (or me 10 years ago), look how grown she is!! We are going home this weekend and we CANNOT WAIT!! Miss the fam for sure.

PSS: We spent a day in the garden, public library, and the loop this weekend. Saw Moonrise Kingdom and absolutely loved it. Thank you Wes Anderson for making me so happy.

Happy Weekend!

Saturday hiking

Saturday morning hike with Judah and his mom

We hiked a trail in Castlewood...

He really loves the outdoors!

we snacked near the creek then it started to sprinkle (which felt nice after a long hike), then it really started to pour so we found shelter under this passageway. It was a nice hike!

Our garden grows

Our garden thus far. Since we have been gone for quite a few weekends these past months, we have neglected the tomatoes just a wee bit. (whoops) but they are producing and going a little crazy actually.

It's hard to tell from the photo, but we have cucumbers growing up the homemade trellis in the back, then tomatoes in the middle, then peppers and cabbage in the front.

Here is a hodgepodge of greens and the like. We have romaine, collards greens, kale right there in the front middle, brussel sprouts, and radishes, oh and one little carrot that is growing nicely.

I love growing cucumbers. They are my favorite for some reason. I think it might be the little vine parts that crawls and wraps itself to any nearby object. (hopefully something you want it to grow upon) We have quite a few growing...

Supper side for tonight. Yay for gardening!

Shakespeare in the park

We went to shakespeare in the park this past friday night. The show was so well done, but the best part was being able to see it alongside all the nearby little birds and fireflies, in the park. Check out the link and view the cast. They were really great.

second best part was that it was F-R-E-E! FREE!!!!

So we packed our little picnicking backpack with chilled pinot grigio, bread, and cheese and hiked to Forest Park along with all the other eager St. Louisans.

Also, as Jonathan was headed to the restrooms midway, someone out in the crowd thought to himself "I know that beard...hmmm." and called out to him.

Turned out to be two friends from Salt Lake City from our old church NewSong!! They have moved here permanently! So we got to visit with them for a bit, exchange numbers and so forth. It was so exciting to see people from back home!!

Owl watching in TGS

This evening I walked to the park 2 minutes from our house in Tower Grove South. I've been watching the 3 baby great horned owls that live there. I owl gaze sometimes with friends. & sometimes alone, like tonight.

owl pellet #1

owl pellet #2

There he is! all three brothers (or sisters... or a combo of the two) were in the same tree again. One flew away but the other two lingered behind, just screeching away with their little adolescent owl voices.

We love you little TG owls

Camping with husband

Jonathan and I went camping (again for me) this past weekend and had such an amazing time. The weather was perfect (again) and the lake was gorgeous. It's always so nice to leave the city to unplug.

We went to the Mark Twain NF two hours southwest of where we live.

Council Bluff lake.

We enjoyed the lake and swam with the fish most the day. Did some hiking for an hour or so around the lake too.

Wet hugs!! I always forget how short I really am. geez.

Go find some woods to play in! Happy camping!

Camping with girlfriends

There's nothing better than a weekend in the woods.

Hooray for camping!

Monster cinnamon rolls!

My friend and I prepared the food and decor for a "Parents Brunch" at our church a few weekends ago. She made homemade quiche and she suggest I make my "monster cinnamon rolls" from a recipe given to me by my mother. I love making them cause they remind me of her.

Yay for sugar!

Lantern Festival

While my sista and her boyfriend Brandon were visiting us, we went to the Lantern Festival. (to commemorate Brandon's heritage. jk, he is Japanese not chinese :)

This porcelain dragon was amazing. There were two facing one another, completely made out of china held together by string!

If you weren't amazed by the mere presence of this thing, you were definitely amazed when you saw them move their heads! smoke rose from their mouths and their eyes lit up!

Cute! it's funny because when some co-workers saw my blog and my sister they said, "wow I didn't know your sister was asian." ha! And it wasn't even this post (obviously cause I'm just posting it) I love how the mix of Spanish and Lebanese blood creates something that apparently looks asian.

Sabrina is probably thinking "What am I doing here?! I'm vegan! I hope my friends don't see this..."

Go check out the festival! It was so great!
