Found this awesome antique washboard at a yard sale this afternoon. I bought it from this sweet *old* guy that lives in this really great part of town near the Loop, with these beautiful old homes blooming with character. He said "...that one there is a little more because it belonged to my mother, it's over 100 years old..." He was darling...
My sister got this great book for me for my birthday. I absolutely love it and I am in the progress of renovating my entire pantry through her inspiration. She is an organic gardener and the owner of GoGo Green Garden (an edible gardening business that builds, plants, and tends edible gardens for city folk in their backyards.) The book is all about taking advantage of local ingredients, eliminating wasteful kitchen practices, and getting the most out of produce and the cupboard. I love her first chapter on building and stocking the pantry. Just having all the essential flours, sugars, *chocolate*, oils & fats, cooking booze etc...that every pantry needs.
My friend Stacey and her husband threw me this darling little party and made me this delicious chocolate cake. She even made this little pennant flag decoration out of the plethora of antique and collected fabric she owns. It was great!
Gorgeous birthday flowers from Soulard Farmers Market.
I do indeed love mojitos in the summertime. Here is Jonathan shaking away...
The boys had drink duty. It was darling to see Jonathan attempt this task. (I think this might have been *thee first* recipe he has ever actually followed and made. And the drinks turned out great!
